New in Our Companies Module: More Than a Half-Million New Companies
Dear DACIS Subscribers,
The newest addition to the DACIS Standard service is the publicly downloadable version of the Central Contractor Registry (CCR), the U.S. government's database of more than a half-million government contractors.
CCR is now available as a search option alternative to the "main" search on our Companies module. Make that TWO search options, because there are two ways you'll probably want to search this vast database. If you're looking for a certain company or companies, you'll want the CCR Search's Company option. Besides name, you'll be able to screen by items like CAGE Code, NAICS Code, Federal Supply Code, location, and more.
Or, if you're looking for a certain TYPE of contractor, you can skip down to CCR Search's Company Type option. Here you'll be able to screen for companies by Socio-Economic Status, Business Type, and more. If you're always needing to answer questions like, "Which Arizona-based 8(A) companies are doing work under NAICS Code 336412 (Aircraft Engine and Engine Parts Manufacturing)?", then this is your lucky day. You're going to do that faster and better here than in a government website.
Doing things better than the government is one measure of success -- but we don't feel our work is done until a new module has been thoroughly integrated into the DACIS system. So you'll find that many CCR records are already linked to our Contracts and Programs modules (with linkages to Newswire, DoD Budget, and FedBizOpps coming up). To get an idea of just how much this change will revolutionize the rest of DACIS, we invite your attention to this Seaport-e contract announcement, dated Dec. 31, 2008: it collects 199 8(a) contracts awarded under the Navy's massive ID/IQ program. And you'll see that we now have active links to ALL of them, with the majority of them being links to CCR records.
Beyond integration with the other DACIS modules (and don't forget Sitewide Search), you'll find that CCR has been integrated into all the other services which DACIS provides: you can email a CCR record to a colleague with the DACIS FYI service, export it to Excel with our Reports service, and get notifications about it with our Profiles service. All the "fit and finish" you expect from a DACIS module is provided from the outset.
If that's not enough reason to love this new addition to DACIS, here's one more: it's free.
And one more thing: the rollout of CCR sets up the most significant addition to the DACIS service to date. Look for the rolling rollout to begin this summer.
Best regards,
