FedBizOpps, The DACIS (Beta) Way
Greetings, DACIS subscribers,
It's probably not a big secret at this point that we're doing something in the area of FedBizOpps. In all likelihood you've noticed the links popping up hither and yon in our Companies, Programs, and Customers modules... even in Newswire.
What you may be wondering about is just what our game plan is with regard to FedBizOpps. Especially if you've been noticing a remarkable increase in the number of linkages in recent weeks.
So here's what's up: you've been working with a beta service which we're in the process of rolling out. We've been making rapid progress during recent weeks, and there's more to come over the next month or two. Within three months we hope to have the service fully ready... including a dedicated FedBizOpps search screen and full integration with our Profiles service (including daily emails).
You may be thinking "With all due respect, this is less-than-momentous news. We get FBO data now. And for less than what you're likely to charge us for it, InfoBase."
To which we'd respond, "Yes, but..."
Yes, but our service is going to be searchable in a way that others aren't. For a preview of what we mean, hop over to our holdings on the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). Click on the "Group by Solicitation" link at the top. And try limiting search results in the new boxes in the right navigation bar (below the "Related Links" box). We think you're going to like the ease of use and the power of these tools.
Yes, but the linkages with the other DACIS modules (Companies, Customers, Programs, and Newswire) are going to make FedBizOpps just that much more valuable. You're only going to get those linkages here, of course.
And finally, Yes, but the DACIS proposition is to make your life easier by giving you an integrated, interconnected whole. If you're running around getting one piece of information in one place, another piece of information in another, and furnishing the connective tissue yourself, then it may be time to ask yourself this question: "Do I have the time in my day to be doing the work that InfoBase has done already?"
Which would be a rhetorical question, at least from our perspective. But isn't it nice to have the time to decide for yourself? Enjoy the beta, watch this space as we announce improvements, and do let us know what you think. Getting your input is the main reason we're handling this rollout in this way.
Best regards,
