We've all experienced this moment: staring at a contract announcement in some government database, as if the act of staring could somehow summon into existence more information than is actually there.
Say you're looking (as we did, not too long ago) at an announcement titled "15 -- Global Observer Hydrogen powered Unmanned Acft Sytem".
And say you clicked on it... but your highly discerning stare only yielded this:
"AV, Inc of Monrovia, Ca was awarded CPFF contract H92222-07-C-0072 w/potential value of $108M for design, fab, integration, & ground testing of a GO UAS (incl one acft and Ground Control Station w/integrated modular payloads), and options for up to two more aircraft and one more Ground Control Station. Work will be performed in Simi Valley, Ca from 9/24/2007 - 4/30/2011."
Before you read any further, we're going to invite you to click the image below and read the treatment this same contract received in the DACIS Contracts module.
Go ahead, we'll wait.
OK, now that you're back, let us give you a 75-word-or-less description of what we do:
We gather and fuse information from multiple sources (government databases, press releases, financial announcements, industry press, websites, and more). We highlight hard-to-find players like subcontractors and bidders. We link it to our Companies, Contracts, and Programs modules, and for good measure to the DoD Budget and FedBizOpps (both of which we maintain in-house). And we fuse all this into one in-depth, highly readable report. All (ahem) so you don't have to.
A thought to leave you with. In our Global Observer contract there are five information sources gathered in one contract announcement. We have no reluctance in telling you: preparing this contract took us two hours. After all, this is what we do for a living, and this is what our customers pay us for. How much more could you do, if your starting point was the place where we had brought you?
Coverage
The DACIS Contracts module provides coverage of U.S. and international defense and aerospace contract awards, and contracts pending award (where competitors are known).
Coverage encompasses more than 50,000 contracts dating to the early 1990s, with information on prime and subcontractors, competitors and teaming arrangements (including losing bidders), customers, and the companies performing the work (specifically identifying divisions, subsidiaries, and joint ventures).
Our sources are Pentagon and FedBizOpps (FBO) contract announcements, industry press, company press releases, Internet resources, and defense and aerospace industry reference sources. In many cases individual contract descriptions combine information from multiple sources.
