Introduced in September 2004 (Read the Press Release), DoD Budget is the newest of the modules contained in the Defense/Aerospace Competitive Intelligence Service (DACIS). This module provides detailed, line item-by-line item coverage of all spending by the Pentagon on Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) and on Procurement. Think of it as your window into $150 billion of annual addressable Pentagon spending.
The DoD Budget module far surpasses other services addressing the Pentagon's budget:

It's Searchable. You can now search the full text of each page of DoD's multi-thousand-page tome with Google-esque speed. And not just by keyword, but also by funding, and by customer. The funding search capability supports trend analysis. Using the three search tools—funding, customer, and company, you could...

  • Data mine for technologies of interest ("electric drive", "MEMS", "nanotechnology", etc.).

  • Easily isolate and quantify the "pipeline" of a competitor (either an entire company, a segment of that company, or an individual division).

  • Find customers where spending is growing. Examine companies supporting these customer for M&A candidates, teaming partners, etc.

It's Linked To Our Other DACIS Modules. You can move directly from a program element (PE) summary or a Procurement line item to InfoBase's own holdings on the companies and customers involved. In the case of the Companies module, you're linking directly to the business unit performing the work—and can there see what other program elements in which the company is involved. In the case of the Programs module, you can see see what other program elements that customer is involved with... from early stage R&D straight through to support of operational systems.

You can also link to the Programs database, which is rich with linkages to the contracts awarded under a program, and linkages to subcontractors and teaming partners.

No other service gives you all of these advanced capabilities. No other service makes "owning" the DoD Budget budget such a powerful, straightforward proposition.
